Description

Trees to 20 feet tall and as wide, marginally frost tolerant with tip damage at 32 degrees F, death at 25 degrees F. Plants do best in full sun. Exfoliating white outer bark reveals blue-green, photosynthetic inner bark. Leaves dark green, pinnately compound, pubescent, drought deciduous. Cream flowers with pink centers appear in May, and can bloom into September, depending on moisture levels. Zones 10 and up.

Rare and limited supply.

Seeds per pack: 5

Germination: Start these seeds indoors right away for best germination rates. Obtain a container with holes in the bottom, to allow water to drain. Use a mix of 50:50 compost/soil and sand. Place the seeds just under the surface of a growing mix, and water them in. These seeds grow in temperatures of 25°C-29°C (77-84F). A heat mat can be helpful. It is very important to keep the soil moist until germination, and do not let the soil dry until the plants are formed. The seeds generally germinate in 2-8 weeks.
