These deep purple blooms appear almost black! Plants will bloom first year if started indoors in winter! Often these plants will bloom twice each year, it the spent flowers are removed after the first blooming! An excellent cut flower!

Note: This plant family is known to have toxicity. The ingestion of these seeds or this plant can cause serious illness or death.

Germination: Start these seeds right away to preserve viability, no matter the time of year. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Leave them at room temperature for 4 weeks. If not growth appears a cold treatment may be required to break dormancy. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature for them to germinate. Germination is in 14-45 days after the warming period.
