reat Indian Plantain is a native to USA and is threatened in much of it's native area including the state of Minnesota and endangered in Maryland. Loss of habitat are bringing threats to this species! It prefers partial sun to medium shade in moist areas. This giant can reach heights of 8 feet, held up by its purplish green stems. This plant is host to many pollinators!
Hardiness zones: 4-9
Location: Sun or part shade
Seeds per packet: 10
Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 6-8 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature 20-22C (68-72F) for them to germinate. Germinates in 30-60 days after the warming period.
