Should I Use A Heat Mat?
THE ANSWER MAY BE SURPRISING!

We all want the best germination for our seeds, so it seems only natural that the more aids we provide, the better they will do!
Surprisingly, the majority of seeds don't need a heat mat, and do better without one. A heat mat can actually hinder germination for many seeds!
Some seeds that may enjoy a heat mat include Lisianthus, peppers, tropical begonia, Eucalyptus, Gerber Daisy, Canna, Brugmansia, Cactus and Banana.
Every type of seeds can have unique needs. That being said, the majority of annual seeds germinate best at room temperature at 20-22°C (68-72°F), and many hardy perennials need a cold start in the fridge.
The best source for growing information often is found with professional growers, and some species even have studies on them! We do our best to relay this information on our products at Ferri Seeds, and for convenience it is also on each of our seeds packs!
HOW DO I LOVE MY SEEDS BEST?
In addition to planting seeds at the ideal depth (surface sow or buried) and temperature, we think the best love we can give our plants is in creating the right soil and moisture environments.
Sterile soil mixes are ideal for starting most seeds. Maintaining an ideal moisture level is a fun challenge, not too wet, while still never drying out during this crucial time. That's where we find our challenge!
