Description

The largest of all dahlias, this Mexican giant can grow up to 5-8m tall! Enormous, dense clusters of large, golden-centred, pinkish-mauve flowers open on the strong, bamboo-like stems. The foliage often has a purplish tinge. Budding and flowering occur in late summer. An unbeatable architectural plant for a warm exotic border or a large container in a greenhouse or tall conservatory. It is a tuberous, herbaceous perennial, rapidly growing in springtime from its tuber, after a dormant winter period (which may be brief in mild climates).

Location: Sun or part sun

Hardiness zones: 8-11

Seeds per pack: 3

Germination: This plant is easy to germinate. Place seeds just under the surface of your growing medium, and keep moist until established. These seeds can be started outdoors in spring, after danger of frost is past, or can be started up to 4 weeks early indoors.
