MILKWEED SILKY RED

This is the red version of this Milkweed. We grew them and they completely amazed us with how fast they grew and how sturdy the plants were! They are perennial plants in zones 8-11, however, being in zone 4/5 we decided to try growing them as an annual as often stated they can be. It's is true! With an early start, these plants started blooming in summer, and continued blooming even through light frosts. The plants have great form, making nice clumps and strong supportive stems. Buds are deep pink, and flowers open red with yellow accents. An excellent tropical color look!
Type: Hardy perennial, or grow as annual.
Hardiness zones: 8-11, or grow as a reliable annual in colder zones
Height: 3 feet, 90cm
Location: Full sun
Seeds per packet: 10
Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Temperature 20-22 C (68-72 F) for 4 weeks. They may be growing at this point. If they have not germinated after 4 weeks then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature for them to germinate. Germination can be 30-60 days after the warming period, though some can take longer.
Ornamental use only. These seeds and or plants are poisonous.
