Description

Drosera binata is a species in the carnivorous plant genus Drosera that is native to Australia and grows in sandy or gravelly marshes in seasonal seepages where a thin film of water collects.  This interesting sundew creates forked leaves.  It will periodically go into a dormant period whether under natural or artificial light, so if it appears as though your binata is dying off, it may just be going through a dormant period.

Note: These seeds are extremely tiny! It's just how they naturally are. Reading glasses are recommended to aid with seeing them, even for those who don't normally require glasses to read. The seeds are shipped in either a wax envelope, or folder within a small paper. Open carefully, and sprinkle onto the growing medium. Do not bury the seeds. Germination information is below.

Multiple packs can be ordered by adjusting the quantity above, or combine shipping with other seeds we offer.

Seeds per pack: 20

Germination: Sprinkle the tiny seeds on top of the growing medium. Do not cover them. Use a mixture of 50% perlite and 50% peat moss (ensure the peat moss has no additives, to be safe, triple rinsing the peat with rain, distilled or reverse osmosis water will get rid of a lot of excess minerals). Cover the container with plastic to retain moisture. Place the container in very bright light at room temperature. Once the small plants begin to grow, slowly open the plastic a little each day. Use rain, distilled or reverse osmosis water (use a spritz bottle while plants are small) to regularly water plants.  These are bog plants, so the container with the plants can be kept in a dish of water. Generally seeds germinate anywhere from 1 to 3 months, but some stragglers can take up to a year.
