The pinkshell azalea or pinkshell rhododendron is a beautiful deciduous shrub with large bell-shaped flowers in clusters of 5-7, rose-colored, that bloom in the spring before leaves appear. Native to North Carolina, and grows well in much of North America. It grows best in slightly moist acid soil and features a red fall color. In the wild, it grows near bogs and streams.
