Our most rare and hard to find seeds! Magnolia macrophylla, also known as the Bigleaf Magnolia, boasts the largest single flower and simple leaf of any native plant in North America! This medium-sized understory tree typically grows to 30-50 ft tall and is easily recognized by its large leaf size of 10-30 inches long and 10-12 inches broad. Bigleaf Magnolia is native to the United States and Mexico and is found in rich mesic woods. This species is endangered in many USA states.

Type: Tree

Location: Part shade or shade

Hardiness zones: 6-9

Seeds per packet: 5 Very rare seeds

Availability: If these seeds are showing out of stock, we strongly recommend joining our wait list, as these seeds have a very shorty viability window, and this helps ensure you get the freshest seeds possible! If they are available, they will only be available for a short time.

Germination: It is very important to Soak the seeds for 24 hours before planting. Sow the seeds just under the surface and water in. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 120 days. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold-moist stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature (20-22 C, 68-72 F) for them to germinate. Germination is generally 60-120 days after the warming period, though it can vary.
