Very bizarre and unique dark maroon-red-black flowers resemble a bat, with the addition of very long 'wiskers' that hang downwards! Plants form tidy clumps of lush tropical foliage, which is also quite attractive. They are ideal house plants, and also look amazing in pots on the patio in the summer! Place in a shaded location.

Soak the seeds for 6 hours before sowing. Surface sow, as light is required for germination. A heat mat is beneficial, as ideal temperature is 80-85°F, 26-30°C days and 75-80F, 21-25C nights. These plants take take 2 to 9 months to germinate. Patience is required, though they are well worth the wait!

I happened across Ferri Seeds website when I Googled a particular plant I’d been looking for. I was impressed by their selection of all types of seeds and their good product descriptions along with detailed germination instructions. I found the site and ordered on a Saturday. On Sunday I got a notice that my order had been shipped! The seeds were in my P.O. box on Friday. Such amazing service. It’s too early to comment on germination rates — I’ve just started the stratification process today.
