Pinguicula (laueana 'CP2' x emarginata) x sethos

Description

Seeds were harvested March 4, 2024, they will only be available for a couple weeks due to extremely short shelf life.  If you are in the US, we would advise selecting fast shipping or not buy this item unfortunately.  They will likely no longer be viable by the time they arrive with economy shipping.

This is our first cross for butterworts, we were able to cross a Pinguicula laueana 'CP2' x emarginata with a Pinguicula sethos.  Both of these varieties have a nice purple blossom, as seen in the second and third picture.  They are currently being kept in a relatively cool environment, usually around 15 degrees, under grow lights for 12 hours a day.  Less light will result in a greener plant for the laueana 'CP2' x emarginata, the sethos has shown no signs of changing to a redder colour, though may darken up with more direct sunlight.

Currently feeding them freeze dried blood worms, though beta fish pellets would be an alternative if there is an allergic reaction to the blood worms.

Seeds per pack: 10

Availability: These seeds are available for a very limited time. If these seeds are showing out of stock, we strongly recommend joining our wait list, as these seeds have a very shorty viability window (so we don't offer them for very long) and this helps ensure you get the freshest seeds possible! If they are available, they will only be available for a short time.

Germination: Use a mix of 30% peat moss, and 70% sand or perlite.  This is our preferred method, though there are other options out there.

Place on the surface of your growing medium, and water in (using a spray bottle to keep from dislodging the seeds is a great way to start watering these), do not bury them. Keep the container around room temperature, with 50-80% humidity to try to encourage germination.  Seeds should germinate in 6-8 weeks.
