Description

LigulariaIn our opinion, this is one of the most valuable perennials because it has all-season appeal! Leaves are large and rounded, and stand out, a notable focal point in the garden. Then, in summer, masses of yellow flowers appear, and last for many weeks. Flowers are so rich-yellow, they almost glow, especially in dim light!

Type: Perennial

Height: 30" tall leaves, 48" tall flowers

Location: With normal garden conditions this can be grown in shade or part sun. Full sun locations should have slightly moist soil. This plant can also be grown in a wet area.

Hardiness zones: 4-9

Seeds per pack: 10

Germination: Start these seeds indoors right away for best germination rates. The planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a seed-start mix, and water in. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 6-8 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold-moist stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature (20-22 °C, 68-72 °F) for them to germinate. Germination is generally 30-60 days after the warming period.
