The pioneer of sunflowers! This native sunflower is a favorite with songbirds. The heads are not as large as the domesticated varieties. This sunflower is a common sight in the wild. The flower heads track with the sun, just like its modern cousins.

Germination: These seeds can be planted directly outdoors in early spring, or start indoors if squirrels pose a problem in your area by possibly eating the young sprouts. I was impressed by their selection of all types of seeds and their good product descriptions along with detailed germination instructions. I found the site and ordered on a Saturday. On Sunday I got a notice that my order had been shipped! The seeds were in my P.O. box on Friday. Such amazing service.
