Light lavender petals with a coppery center. It is grown in gardens, and this native wildflower is also widely used in prairie plantings. It is tolerant of dry soil. Its native range is the central region of the United States and Ontario, Canada.

After the stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature for them to germinate. Germination can be 30-60 days after the warming period, though some can take longer.
