Beautiful deep pink-red flowers flare open! Strong, superfast-growing stems can reach up to 20m in height! Produces large, round, fleshy and aromatic yellowish fruits.
This rare and vigorous evergreen climber comes from cool, high elevation forests in between 2200 and 3600 m, and is well adapted to cool conditions (even down to -5 C). It will grow in many warm temperate climates, although in frosty weather leaves and shoots will be cut back, but will regrow from the base in spring.
It is a magnet for numerous birds, bees, and butterflies, and is botanically a member of the rare Tacosnia group of Passifloras.

Soak seeds in water for 12-24 hours before planting. Place seeds just below the soil surface, and instead of using water, use orange juice to moisten the soil. The acidity of the juice will help soften the outer layer of the seeds and aid germination. Place the container is a warm location 25C (77F). A heat mat is beneficial. Germination can occur within 2 weeks to several months. Patience may be needed, though they are well worth the effort! Once seedlings sprout place the pot in a sunny location.
