Description
Dusky lavender spikes, with each tubular flower having orange stamens, creating a unique and spectacular floral display. The silvery foliage is also very attractive.
The plants are tolerant of many conditions including poor soil, and tolerant of drought once established.
Lead Plant is one of the larval hosts of the Dog Face Sulphur butterfly, also known as Southern Dogface. It also attracts many others butterflies, moths, bees and other beneficial insects.

Germination: Start these seeds indoors right away for best germination rates. Soak the seeds in water for 12 hours planting. The planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a seed-start mix, and water in. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold-moist stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature (20-22 °C, 68-72 °F) for them to germinate. Germination is generally 30-60 days after the warming period.
