Description

A unique and ususual eye-catching perennial, Berkheya has dark-eyed mauve-purple flowers covering spiny tall stems and leaves! Most plants grown from this seed will have the mauve flowers, though there are also a few white flowered seeds in the mix.

Type: Hardy perennial

Location: Full sun

Height: 60-90 cm

Hardiness zones: 6-10, with some reports of hardiness in zone 5

Seeds per pack: 5

Germination: Your planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Place seeds just under the surface of the growing mix, and keep moist until germination, at room temperature or slightly below. Do not over-water. If there is no growth within 6 weeks, place the container in the fridge for 6 weeks, and then bring them back to warmth. Some seeds need this cold treatment to help them realize it's "spring" and time to grow. Seeds will grow within about 6 weeks after the fridge treatment. Place in a sunny location once seedlings emerge.
