A compact spreading, mat-forming perennial, with short runners. Large deep violet-blue flower heads, and one of the most beautiful compact Bluebells. A spreading, mat-forming perennial, with short runners. Native to the northeastern Alps of Austria, meadows, slopes and screes. The Royal Horticultural Society recommends it for scree gardens.

Surface sow as light aids germination. Cover them with clear plastic and place in a fridge for 2 months. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought to a cool room about 15°C, 59°F to germinate. Germination is generally 30-90 days after the warming period, though some can take longer, and will germinate irregularly over a long period of time. Do not discard, as patience is needed, and they are well worth the wait.
