Description

Cymbopogon nardus, common name citronella grass, is a species of perennial aromatic plant from the family Poaceae, originating in tropical Asia. Essential oils are extracted from the aerial parts and applied topically or slowly burned (e.g. in a "citronella candle") as an insect repellent, particularly to deter haematophagous insects such as mosquitoes. It is very easy to grow in warm temperate and tropical climates.

Type: Hardy perennial in zones 10-12, or Lemongrass is often grown as an annual in cold climates.

Seeds per pack: 15

Germination: Place the seeds just below the surface of the soil. Keep in a dark room or cupboard. Seeds should germinate in 10 to 28 days. Maintain a lightly moist, not wet, environment. Once seedlings appear move them into full sun or under strong artificial light.
