This Gentian is a North American native, not often found in cultivation. Grows best in humid environments with well drained soils. With white, upright, trumpet shaped flowers speckled with blue, it makes for an exotic looking plant. Once established, typically blooms from August to September.

Surface sow as light aids germination. Water the seeds in. Temperature 20-22°C (68-72°F) for 4 weeks. They may be growing at this point. If they have not germinated after 4 weeks then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought back to a cool room (15-18°C, 59-64°F) for them to germinate. Germination can be 30-60 days after the warming period, though some will take longer.
