Description

This is the yellow version of this Milkweed. We grew them and they completely amazed us with how fast they grew and how sturdy the plants were! They are perennial plants in zones 8-11, however, being in zone 4/5 we decided to try growing them as an annual as often stated they can be. It's is true! With an early start, these plants started blooming in summer, and continued blooming even through light frosts. The plants have great form, making nice clumps and strong supportive stems. Buds are deep pink, and flowers open red with yellow accents. An excellent tropical color look!

Type: Hardy perennial, or grow as annual.

Hardiness Zones: 8-11, or grow as a reliable annual in colder zones

Height: 3 feet, 90cm

Location: Full sun

Seeds per pack: 5

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants are poisonous.

Germination: Start these seeds right away for best germination rates. Start indoors. Your planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Leave them at room temperature (20-22 °C, 68-72 °F) for 4 weeks. If they have not germinated after 4 weeks then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold-moist stratification period they are then brought back to a cool room (15C, 59F) for them to germinate. Germination can be 30-90 days after the warming period, though some will take longer.
