Description

Auricula Primulas are unique, as they have more than one color on each flower! Some will have a border, and other have different colors towards the inside of the flower petals. Primula are one of the most colorful plants for shade. Primula like the cool temperatures of spring, and begin to bloom very early in the spring.

Type: Hardy perennial

Height: 8-10"

Location: Shade or part sun

Hardiness zones: 5-9

Seeds per pack: 10

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants are poisonous.

Germination: Start these seeds right away to preserve viability, no matter the time of year. Start indoors. Your planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. These seeds require light to germinate. Sow the seeds on surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Do not bury the seeds. Leave them at room temperature (20-22 °C, 68-72 °F) for 4 weeks. If they have not germinated after 4 weeks then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold-moist stratification period they are then brought back to a cool room (15C, 59F) for them to germinate. Germination can be 30-90 days after the warming period, though some will take longer.
