Description

Strelitzia juncea, the rush-leaved strelitzia or narrow-leaved bird of paradise, is a drought resistant and is thought to be one of the most frost resistant of the genus Strelitzia.

Gorgeous red, orange, blue and yellow flowers! Plants are perennial in tropical climates, and also make impressive conservatory plants, or houseplant when given a large space.

Very rare seeds. Limited supply.

Type: Half-hardy perennial, houseplant or greenhouse plant

Height: 4-6 ft. ( 1.2-1.8 m)

Hardiness zones: 9-12

Seeds per pack: 3

Germination: Scratch each seed with sand-paper, or on a rough stone or brick, then soak in a warm location for 12-24 hours. Plant seeds just barely below the surface of the soil, and place the container in a sunny window. A heat mat can speed germination, but is not essential. Germination is very reliable, though seeds will germinate at various times, from 3-14 weeks. Be sure to keep the soil moist during the germination period.
