A small clustering bromeliad with can abundance of blueish green flowers in a club shaped spike. Forms a cluster of rosettes with narrow leaves that are grayish below and green above.
Native to dry, hilly sites in central and southern Chile, it is robust, quick and easy to grow in wamr climates in USDA Zones 9 to 11.

Obtain a container with holes in the bottom, to allow water to drain. Use a mix of 50:50 compost/soil and sand. Surface sow as light aids germination. Water the seeds in. Temperature 20-25°C, 68-77°F. A heat mat can be helpful during cold seasons. It is very important to keep the soil moist until germination, and do not let the soil dry until the plants are formed. Watering can be done from a bottom tray, as not to disturb the seeds. The seeds generally germinate in 2-6 weeks, with warmer temperatures towards the quicker end of that range.
