Description

This wildflower Bergamot has very attractive and full lilac colored flowers, and aromatic foliage! It is native to prairie and savanna communities, blooming from July through to September. As it is a wildflower, these plants are able to withstand adverse conditions like poor soil, or drought.

Bee Balm are an ideal food for pollinators, and especially humming birds! Each flower is comprised of multiple long tubular flowers that easily hold nectar. Bee Balm plants are easy to grow, and are not fussy. Plants form large, tidy clumps, slowly growing larger each year, but not becoming invasive and never self seeding around the garden.

Height: Average 4 feet, can vary from 3-5 feet (mix)

Hardiness zones: 3-9

Location: Sun

Germination: Start these seeds indoors right away for best germination rates. Your planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Sow the seeds on the surface a sterile seed-start mix and water in. Do not bury the seeds as they require light to germinate. Keep lightly moist and do not let the soil dry out. Keep at 20-22 °C, 68-72 °F. Seeds germinate in 10-30 days.
