The paddle plant or flapjack succulent, is an evergreen plant featuring large (up to 6-8" wide), flat, round leaves stacked in a tight basal rosette. The jade-green or grayish-green toned foliage has striking, vibrant wine-red edges that intensify in bright light or cool weather.
Allow 6+ hours of sun to retain the reddish color. Requires porous, fast-draining cactus or succulent soil. Water thoroughly only when the soil has completely dried out. Makes an excellent patio plant, especially in tabletop planters and arrangements. Thrives outdoors in warm climates (USDA Zones 9–11) and must be protected from freezing temperatures.
Height: 12-24"
Hardiness zones: Generally grown as a houseplant, and hardy outdoors in zones 9-11.
