A hardy relative of the African Violet, the 'Hardy African Violet', Ramonda myconi, the Pyrenean-violet or rosette mullein, is hardy outdoors in zones 6 to 10! It is a rosette-forming evergreen perennial growing to 10 cm (4 in) high by 20 cm (8 in) broad, with oval, crinkled leaves. Five-petalled purple flowers with prominent yellow anthers appear on leafless stems in spring. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Type: Hardy perennial

Hardiness zones: 6-10

Location: Shade or part sun

The genus is most closely related to Cape Primrose (Streptocarpus).

Seeds per packet: 10

Note: African violet seeds are extremely small. Do not bury them for germination. See germination information below.
