Hardiness Zones USA
When growing any winter hardy perennial, tree or shrub it is important to know what hardiness zone you live in, and what zone your plant is hardy in. This ensures that it can survive the winter in your area! Examples of winter hardy plants are coneflower, hosta and daylily.
Though hardiness zones are important for hardy species, they are not important for growing annuals, as annuals can be grown anywhere, and complete their life cycle in one season and are not meant to survive the winter. Examples of annuals are sunflowers and petunias.
