Rare double pink flowers on plants that are easy to grow! They can be grown in sun or and are tolerant of many soils. Because of their versatility, we use them in our difficult shady spots, but they will bloom even more prolifically in sunny locations. The flowers are held high above the foliage. The plants are compact, forming clumps. The flower pollen is a favorite food of the endangered bumble bee - it is fun to watch them spin around the center of the flower, circling and collecting pollen on their back legs! As these plants are hybrids, the seeds will produce plants with varying colors, from deep pink to very light pink.
Type: Hardy perennial
Height: 75 cm, 30"
Location: Sun or shade
Hardiness zones: 5-8
Bloom time: Summer into fall
Seeds per packet: 5
Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Temperature 20-22 C (68-72 F) for 4 weeks. They may be growing at this point. If they have not germinated after 4 weeks then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature for them to germinate. Germination can be 30-60 days after the warming period, though some can take longer.
Ornamental use only. These seeds and or plants are poisonous.
