Enormous plants, with massive, felted leaves. In early spring arises a thick stem holding a succession of golden silky flowers which open in succession over a prolonged period in late spring and early summer. The seeds are reliable germinators as long as they are given cool temperatures (see germination instructions below).

Germination: It is very important to start these seeds right away to preserve viability, no matter the time of year. These seeds require light to germinate. Sow the seeds on the surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Keep them at 20C for germination. Do not us a heat mat or they will not grow. The seeds generally germinate in 4-6 weeks, though some can take longer so be sure to keep moist. Once germination occurs, place them in a cooler location for them to grow larger, about 15C is ideal.
