Oenothera tetragona (commonly called Northern Sundrops or Yellow Sundrops) is a tough, clump-forming native perennial. It is celebrated for its bright canary-yellow, cup-shaped summer blooms and striking reddish-bronze fall foliage. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, making it an excellent, low-maintenance choice for rock gardens and borders. Tolerates drought. Blooms late spring through late summer (June to August). Glossy deep-green leaves that boast a reddish flush in spring and turn a deep, vibrant burgundy in the autumn. Unlike its spreading cousins, O. tetragona is a well-behaved, clump-forming plant. It will gently colonize over time without taking over the garden.
