Berlandiera lyrata, with the common names chocolate flower, chocolate daisy, or lyreleaf greeneyes, is native to  North American. It is particularly notable for its distinct chocolate-like fragrance, especially during the early morning hours, making it popular in sensory gardens and pollinator habitats.

The flowers bloom at night from spring until frost, and in frost-free areas it will bloom year-round. Once the flowers drop they leave an attractive green disc shape. To ensure that it will continue to bloom as long as possible the spent flowers can be removed.

Native to the United States, the plants are drought-tolerant and thrive in dry soils. Its bright yellow flowers attract various pollinators, including bees and butterflies, and support local biodiversity.
