Tropaeolum azureum
NASTURTIUM BLUE
Blue Nasturtium is a rare and beautifully elegant climbing vine, that becomes covered in large blue flowers from early spring, throughout the entire season! Vine is self-cling to surrounding structures or shrubbery, and climbs to 7 feet tall. Plants are often grown as annuals, though are perennials in zone 9-11, re-growing each year!
Type: Perennial, or grow as annual or houseplant
Height: 7 feet tall, climbing. Will climb shrubbery or other support.
Location: Sun or part sun
Bloom time: From spring, throughout the entire growing season.
Note: These seeds may be poisonous
Seeds per pack: 5
Germination: Obtain a planting container that has holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Place the seeds on the surface of your growing medium, and water in so that seeds just barely under the soil surface. Keep the container in a cool room, just slightly below room temperature, for 4 weeks, and then bring them to room temperature. Your seedlings should appear within 4-10 weeks after bringing them to warmth, and will be slim and dainty, like a mini version of the parent plant. It is very important to keep the soil moist during the germination period. These seeds take some time to germinate, but are well worth the wait!
