Description

Cyclamen elegans (Cyclamen coum subsp. elegans) is a perennial growing from a tuber. In the wild it is found in the mountains and coastal areas, where it can even be found growing in moss on the lower limbs of trees. These plants are rubust, and are hardy in zones 6-9!

It is similar to Cyclamen coum, and was once considered a subspecies (Cyclamen coum subsp. elegans), but leaves and petals are longer as well as C. elegans flowering earlier in October or November.

The petals of C. elegans also have a dark blotch at the base of each petal in the flower head.

Note: This plant species is known to have toxicity.

Seeds per pack: 10

Germination: Start these seeds indoors right away for best germination rates. Soak the seeds for 12-24 hours before planting. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a seed-start mix, and water in. Place them in a cool and dark room or closet, as they require darkness to germinate. Temp (15C, 59F). Germination is generally 30-90 days, though some can take longer.
