Description

Also known as Flame Lily, Climbing Lily, Creeping Lily, Glory Lily, Tiger Claw and Fire Lily, this climbing can reach up to 8 feet tall, and has large red and yellow tropical-looking flowers with attractive wavy petals! These plants are quite hardy outdoors, to zone 7! Those living in cooler climates can harvest the tuber and store for the winter.

This plant is sometimes used as a houseplant. Plant in winter or spring. Months later, once it is done blooming, allow it to go dormant by with-holding water and fertilizer. Once dormant, place the pot in a cool location for the winter months, and then take it out in spring to water it and allow it to grow again.

Type: Hardy

Hardiness zones: 7-11 outdoors. If living in a colder climate, tubers can be harvested and brought indoors for the winter.

Height: 8 feet, about 2.5 meters

Location: Sun or part sun

Note: This plant species is known to have toxicity.

Seeds per pack: 10

Germination: Start these seeds right away indoors, to preserve the best viability. Plant the seeds just below the surface of the soil, and water, and keep at room temperature. Keep lightly moist until germination. Germination occurs in approximately 3-4 weeks. Once growing, place the plants in a fully sunny location, or sunny window. Plant outdoors once all danger of frost is passed. In fall, before frost, dig up the roots and store them in peat moss in a cool location, but do not let them freeze. They can be potted up again the following spring. Alternatively if they are being growing in a planter, the entire planter can be brought indoors to a cool location for the winter.
