-This unique spreading blue chalkstick produces finger-like, blue-green fleshy leaves that form a dense mat and is of great ornamental appeal as one of the most popular and trendy groundcovers.
Curio talinoides, syn. Senecio mandraliscae, also known as blue straws, blue chalksticks, dassieharpuis, or narrow-leaf chalk sticks, is a succulent plant. The bluest of the curio plants, it is usually seen just a few inches tall, thouhg can grow to 50 to 70 cm tall with 4.5-9.5 cm long leaves.
Type: Succulent houseplant, or perennial in warm areas
Location: Sun
Hardiness zones: 9-12
Seeds per packet: 5
Obtain a container with holes in the bottom, to allow water to drain. Use a mix of 50:50 compost/soil and sand. Surface sow as light aids germination. Water the seeds in. These seeds can grow in temperatures of 21C-29C (70-84F), average about 26C (79F), or a heat mat can be helpful. It is very important to keep the soil moist until germination, and do not let the soil dry until the plants are formed. Watering can be done from a bottom tray, as not to disturb the seeds. The seeds generally germinate in 2-6 weeks, with warmer temperatures towards the quicker end of that range.
