Description

Found growing wild in much of North America, the Eastern Red Columbine is an extremely attractive columbine, with not-often seen bold-red color in a columbine! Flowers bloom in spring, providing nectar for hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. These plants are extremely tolerant of dry and sandy locations, and thrive in full sun or shade. They grow wild in our southern area of Canada (Ontario) in an old gravel quarry! Plants will self-seed and naturalize if allowed, but do not become invasive.

Height: 24", 60cm

Type: Hardy perennial

Hardiness zones: 3-8

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and plants are poisonous.

Seeds per pack: 20

Germination: Start these seeds indoors right away to preserve viability, no matter the time of year. Your planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Sow the seeds just under the surface a sterile seed-start mix and water in. Keep lightly moist and do not let the soil dry out. Keep at 20-22 °C, 68-72 °F. Seeds germinate in 21-60 days.
