Description

The LARGEST of all lilies, the Giant Himalayan Lily reaches over 3 meters tall! Native to woodland areas, it prefers part sun or part . Stems are very strong, up to 2" thick, with dinnerplate-sized leaves. Flowers are EXTREMELY Fragrant! Absolutely stunning!

Type: Hardy perennial

Height: Over 3 meters!

Hardiness zones: 7-11, possibly colder

Seeds per pack: 10 (previously 5)

Germination: Start these seeds right away for best germination rates. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 5-6 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature for them to germinate. Germination is in 14-60 days after the warming period. If possible, the best location for sowing in March, April and May, is in cold frame or a cold greenhouse where they will receive the cold period and fluctuating temperatures naturally.

With this plant, it is beneficial to sow seeds over a couple of years, as individual plants are short-lived perennials. Successive sowing ensures that you will continue to have blooms, and can help form an established colony.
