Red yucca is an impressive member of the century plant family and is native to the deserts of Texas and northeastern Mexico. Despite it's south beginnings, it is surprisingly hardy to zone 5! They key is having a dry location with sandy, well-draining soil. Very drought tolerant, and grow well in gardens in a sunny location.
