Canada Post CUPW announces national strike

For our Canadian customers:

We have made UPS shipping available for any orders that you wish to receive quickly. Rates are available at checkout.

During the strike we are still accepting orders for Canada Post shipping, and preparing them for shipping. They will be put into the Postal System as soon as possible. Since Canada Post will be delivering on a first-in, first-out basis, your order will be ready to go.

Here is some of the information that Canada Post has provided:

Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed. Service guarantees will be impacted for items already in the postal network. And no new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.

All mail and parcels in the postal network will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible on a first-in, first-out basis once operations resume.

For our USA customers: There are no delays to our standard shipping times.

International customers (outside of North America): UPS courier shipping has no delays. A Canada Post option is available but will have delays due to the Postal strike. Canada Post orders are shipped on a first-in, first-out basis once mail services resume.

Large stunning clusters of bright red flowers are displayed on this scrambling shrub which is rare in cultivation. One of the world's largest begonias, it can grow up to 3 m tall in its native haunts in the cloud and montane rainforests in Colombia and northwestern Venezuela.

This plant is listed as a half-hardy perennial. We believe it is hardy outdoors in zones 10 and up only. The plant can be brought indoors in the winter, as a stunning house plant, and will likely provide cherished blooms throughout most of the winter.

Location: Shade or part shade

Moisture: Regular to moist, does not like extended periods of drought.

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants are poisonous.

Seeds per packet: 5 very tiny seeds. The seeds are mixed with a fine sand to help with sowing and movement within the pack.

Germination: a seed-start mix is ideal for these tiny seeds. Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil, and water in. Do not bury the seeds as they require light to germinate. Keep lightly moist and do not let the soil dry out. A heat mat or warm room (25C, 79F) is beneficial until germination begins, and then they should be placed at 20-22 C, 68-72 F in an area with good air circulation (no cover). Seeds germinate within 15-30 days.
