Bergenia boast huge displays of pink blooms in spring and summer, held high above the foliage, and are held on red stems! In autumn, leaves turn a brilliant shade of red. This is a beautiful focal plant for the perennial garden, and is much under-used in our opinion.
Bergenia plants are low maintenance and drought-tolerant, and they can grow in shade or partial sun. They prefer well-drained soil that's rich in organic matter and stays moist.
