Jubaea, commonly known as the "Chilean wine palm" or "Chile cocopalm", and "coquito", is a very cold hardy palm tree! The most cold tolerant of all pinnate palms, hardy in zones 7-11! It is highly drought tolerant, and will also do well in cold or wet conditions. It does not need hot summers to grow well, and in winter it can take severe frost down to -16 C (3 F) unharmed. It grows well in many areas, and is most commonly found in California, Australia, the Mediterranean, Switzerland, the windy Atlantic coast of France, Britain, and the rainy west coast of Ireland.
These seeds are extremely large, like small golf balls!
Hardiness zone: 7-11
Seeds per packet: 5
Note: These seeds are large, and will have extra freight charges at checkout, as they ship with parcel rates.
Sow the seeds just under surface of the soil, and water in. Keep continuously moist. A heat mat is beneficial to speed germination, or a very warm room, and out of direct sunlight. Seeds germinate in 60-150 days. Once growing they can be removed from the heat mat and placed in regular room temperatures.
