Description

These are rare seeds for the Red Cutleaf Japanese Maple! The leaves are delicate and intricate looking, and this is also a red form!

Red Japanese Maple trees are beautiful all-year round, with finely divided leaves, slender branching, and absolutely gorgeous red leaves all season, not just in the autumn.

In cooler climates, plants grown well in full sun or part shade. In hot climates they do well given part shade. The medium-sized tree is ideal for urban gardens, yet vividly-colored enough to stand out in a larger arrangement as well.

Type: Tree

Height: 3-4 meters.

Location: Sun or part sun

Hardiness zones: 5-10

Seeds per pack: 5 (previously 3)

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants may be poisonous.

Germination: Start these seeds right away to preserve viability, no matter the time of year. These seeds need a warm and cold stratification period. Soak seed for 24 hours before planting. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Keep at room temperature for 120 days. Keep lightly moist during this time. They will not grow yet. Then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 120 days. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature for them to germinate. Germination is in 14-60 days after the warming period.
