Description

A hardy plant that is native to Western Canada. Part of the Ranunculaceae family, this anemone thrives in full sun and would be a great addition to rock gardens.

Type: Hardy perennial

Height: 10", 25 cm

Location: Sun

Hardiness zones: 4-8

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants are poisonous.

Seeds per pack: 10

Germination: For this particular variety, the seeds germinate best with an initial warm period of 2-4 weeks, followed by a cold period of another 4-6 weeks (kept between -4C and +4C).

Obtain a planting container that has holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Place the seeds just under the surface of your growing medium, and water. Place your container in a warm area (18C to 22C) for 2 to 4 weeks. Make sure to keep them moist during this time, as even a one time drying can kill the seeds. Follow this up by placing your container in a cold area (but not freezing, perhaps a refrigerator) for 4-6 weeks. Once the cold period is completed, try to keep them in a cool area, between 5C and 12C for them to germinate. Be sure to keep the soil moist during this entire germination period. Seedlings will sprout a few weeks, or occasionally several months, after the warming period. We have grown these seeds ourselves using this refrigeration method, with high germination results.
