The Tatarian Aster is a tall and stately perennial with multiple flowering stems that grow directly from its base, giving an upright appearance. Flower petals are large and violet-blue colored. The species is native to Siberia, China and Japan. And has been introduced into Germany and multiple states of the Eastern United States, such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Alabama and Georgia. It grows well in others areas in zones 3-8. Very rare seeds. A TCM plant.

Surface sow as light aids germination. Water the seeds in. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 6-8 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought back to a bright room, but out of direct sunlight. Temperature 20-22°C (68-72°F). Germination is generally 14-45 days after the warming period, though some can take longer.
