Description

This is the variety used commercially, with an oval to oblong nut, 2.6–6 cm long and 1.5–3 cm broad. The nut has a buttery flavor and is commonly used in sweet desserts, especially as the main ingredient in pecan pies. It is native to south-central North America. 

The pecan tree is a large deciduous tree, growing to 20–40 m (66–131 ft) in height, rarely to 44 m (144 ft).

These seeds are rare and are in limited supply.

GerminationSurface sow in a sterile seed-start mix. Water, and place in plastic, and in the fridge for 90 days for stratification. Then bring to warmth for them to germinate. Keep continually moist.
