This grass grows up to 12' tall!!! This Giant Miscanthus floridulus features include soft, silky plumes, and extremely long grass blades hang from the main stem, and cascade about 4' long! This plant is extremely hardy, to -30C (zone 4), and has been nick-named 'Canadian Bamboo'! Stems can be used as stakes, like bamboo, so they are extra handy. Very beautiful, it forms neat dense clumps, and will not invade surrounding areas. Rare and hard to find, very popular. Germination: Sow the seeds just under the surface and water in. Leave them at room temperature (20-22 °C, 68-72 °F) for 4 weeks. They may be growing at this point. If they have not germinated after 4 weeks then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold-moist stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature. for them to germinate. Germination can be 30-60 days after the warming period, though some can take longer.
