Description

These seeds are for the rare double flowers! Helleborus are absolutely stunning perennial flowers that are widely admired! Flowers are available in a wide range of colors, and foliage is dark green, shiny, and evergreen even in the coldest climates. Flowers begin to bloom as the snow is receding, and continue through spring creating a magnificent display. Helleborus can be best appreciated when planted near the front of the perennial border. We have been growing these plants for a number of years in our zone 4 gardens, and they are always a welcomed sight of elegant color!

Available for a very limited time!

Type: Perennial, evergreen foliage

Height: 18"

Location: Part or full shade

Hardiness zones: 4-9

Seeds per pack: 10

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants are poisonous.

Availability: If these seeds are showing out of stock, we strongly recommend joining our wait list, as Helleborus seeds have a very shorty viability window, and this helps ensure you get the freshest seeds possible! If they are available, they will only be available for a short time.

Germination: Start these seeds right away to preserve viability, no matter the time of year. Your planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Leave them at room temperature for 5 weeks. This helps break the phytohormones which inhibit germination. They will not grow yet. Then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 80 days. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold-moist stratification period they are then brought back to a cool room (15C, 59F) for them to germinate. Germination is generally 30-90 days after the warming period, though some can take longer.
