Lewisia rediviva, commonly known as bitterroot, is a low-growing perennial native to North America. It is well-adapted to dry and rocky habitats, thriving sandy or gravelly soils. The plant is noted for its narrow leaves which often wither before the flowers appear. In summer Bitterroot produces stunning cup-shaped flowers that range color from pale pink to deep rose, occasionally white, with numerous petals that create a starburst-like appearance.
