Bay, also known as Bay Laurel, Bay Leaf, Grecian Laurel, Laurel, Sweet Bay, or True Laurel, is an aromatic evergreen tree or large shrub is native to the Mediterranean region, where it was used as a symbol of highest status. Today it is more commonly known as an herb used in a wide variety of Mediterranean recipes. It is also widely grown as an ornamental plant, used in topiaries or for low hedges.
Bay seeds are extremely rare to obtain, and are in very limited supply.
Location: Sun
Hardiness zones: Outdoors hardy zones 8-10, or grow indoors as houseplant.
Seeds per pack: 3
Before planting, soak the seeds for 12-24 hours. Change the water as needed. Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Keep lightly moist. Temperature 21C (70F). Do not use a heat mat. Seeds germinate in 2-6 months.
These seeds have a skin on them that will break down and release the seed/nut. We don't remove the skin, though if it is cracked or separating upon arrival it can safely be removed. The nut inside should be firm and is the part that will grow.
